John Buchan

John Buchan (1875–1940) was a Scottish novelist and historian who also served as a Unionist politician and as Governor General of Canada. He is best known for The Thirty-Nine Steps, which introduced Richard Hannay, a mining engineer caught up in a plot that threatens England.
