John Keats was an English poet of the second generation of Romantic poets, alongside Byron and Shelley. He died of tuberculosis in 1821 at the age of 25, and his poems were received indifferently in his lifetime, but his fame grew quickly after his death. His odes, such as "Ode to a Nightingale" and "Ode on a Grecian Urn", along with narrative poems like "The Eve of St. Agnes", remain widely read and studied, and they inspired many of the Pre-Raphaelite poets.
