Jokha Alharthi is an Omani writer and academic best known for Celestial Bodies, which won the Man Booker International Prize in 2019 and made her the first Arab author to receive it. She has written four novels in Arabic, and Bitter Orange Tree is another of her books, a coming-of-age story about a young woman whose life shifts after an inheritance that unsettles her.
