Jonathan Stroud is a British writer of fantasy fiction, best known for the Bartimaeus sequence and the Lockwood & Co. children's series. Born in 1970, he often sets his books in an alternate history London, using magic to satirise class and power. The Bartimaeus books, built around a young magician and his summoned djinni, won the Grand Prix de l'Imaginaire and the Mythopoeic Fantasy Awards, and Stroud's work has appeared on ALA Notable lists for young readers. A Netflix series based on Lockwood & Co. was announced in 2020.
