Kazuo Ishiguro is a Japanese-British novelist, screenwriter and short-story writer, born in Nagasaki and raised in Britain from age five. His first novels, A Pale View of Hills and An Artist of the Floating World, explore Japanese identity, while later books like The Remains of the Day, which won the Booker Prize in 1989, and Never Let Me Go turn toward science fiction and history. He received the Nobel Prize in Literature in 2017, and his recent work includes Klara and the Sun and The Buried Giant.
