Lars Gustafsson (1936–2016) was a Swedish poet, novelist, philosopher and scholar who wrote across six decades. His novels include A Tiler's Afternoon, a quiet, unsettling story about an aging tile-layer working alone in an unfinished villa, and The Death of a Beekeeper, a mystery. He also wrote Funeral Music for Freemasons and The Tennis Players. His work earned the Bellman Prize and the Thomas Mann Prize, among other honors, and he died in 2016.
