Laurie Colwin was an American writer who wrote five novels, three short story collections and two volumes of essays and recipes. She was known for her portrayals of New York society and for her food columns in Gourmet magazine, and in 2012 the James Beard Foundation inducted her into its Cookbook Hall of Fame. Her fiction includes Happy All the Time and Another Marvelous Thing, a set of interconnected stories about two people who are each already married to someone else. She died in 1992.
