Laurie Forest

Laurie Forest's books are young adult high fantasy, gathered in The Black Witch Chronicles. The series opens with The Black Witch, which follows Elloren Gardner, a young woman without magic who is expected to carry on her grandmother's famous legacy. It continues through The Iron Flower, The Shadow Wand, and The Demon Tide. Magic, war, prejudice, and romance run through the series, and the later volumes lean toward epic and darker fantasy.
