Lawrence Block

Lawrence Block is an American crime writer who has worked in crime, mystery, and suspense fiction for more than half a century. Block is best known for two long-running New York-set series: the Matthew Scudder novels, about a recovering alcoholic private investigator, and the Bernie Rhodenbarr books, about a gentleman burglar. The Mystery Writers of America named Block a Grand Master in 1994, and Burglars Can't Be Choosers is the first Rhodenbarr novel.
