Leslie Marmon Silko is an American writer of Laguna Pueblo descent, known for the novels Ceremony and Almanac of the Dead. Critic Kenneth Lincoln counts her among the key figures of the First Wave of the Native American Renaissance. She was a debut recipient of the MacArthur Foundation Grant in 1981, and she received the Native Writers' Circle of the Americas Lifetime Achievement Award in 1994 and the Robert Kirsch Award in 2020. She lives in Tucson, Arizona.
