Loretta Nyhan's books are contemporary fiction with a literary and coming-of-age streak. Digging In follows a woman who takes up gardening after a heavy loss, and the garden gradually brings her into a new circle of people and a chance to begin again. The Other Family is another novel in the same contemporary, character-focused vein.
