Louise Welsh, born in London in 1965, is an English-born author of short stories and psychological thrillers who lives in Glasgow. Her books include The Cutting Room, a psychological thriller, and Tamburlaine Must Die, a historical novel about the playwright Christopher Marlowe's last days. Welsh has also written three plays and an opera and edited volumes of prose and poetry. In 2004 she received the Corine Literature Prize.
