Luis Alberto Urrea was born in Tijuana, Mexico, in 1955, and is a Mexican-American poet, novelist, and essayist. He is best known for The Devil's Highway: A True Story, a nonfiction account of twenty-six men who attempt to cross the Arizona desert on foot. Urrea's novel Good Night, Irene is historical fiction set against war.
