Mai Nguyen is a Canadian writer based in Toronto, of Vietnamese descent, born in Winnipeg and raised in Halifax. She has worked as a journalist and copywriter for Wired, the Washington Post and the Toronto Star. Her debut novel, Sunshine Nails, came out in 2023, and Cleo Dang Would Rather Be Dead, a novel about grief and motherhood, followed in 2026 and was longlisted for the 2026 Giller Prize.
