Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley

Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley was an English novelist best known for Frankenstein; or, The Modern Prometheus (1818), a Gothic novel often considered an early example of science fiction. She edited and promoted the works of her husband, the poet Percy Bysshe Shelley, and wrote historical novels such as Valperga and Perkin Warbeck, the apocalyptic The Last Man, and the travel book Rambles in Germany and Italy.
