Michael Ondaatje

Michael Ondaatje is a Sri Lankan-born Canadian poet, fiction writer and essayist whose career began with poetry, including The Dainty Monsters (1967) and The Collected Works of Billy the Kid (1970). His novel The English Patient won the Booker Prize in 1992 and was adapted as a film in 1996. His other fiction includes In the Skin of a Lion, a historical novel with magical realist touches, Anil's Ghost, a historical mystery, and The Cat's Table, a coming-of-age story.
