Neil Postman (1931–2003) was an American author, educator, media theorist, and cultural critic whose work centered on technology and education. Postman is best known for Amusing Ourselves to Death (1985), a book about how television has pushed news, politics and education toward show business, and for Technopoly (1992) and Teaching as a Subversive Activity (1970). Postman was critical of personal computers in schools and avoided digital technology. Other titles include The End of Education (1995) and How to Watch TV News.
