Peter Singer is an Australian moral philosopher who writes applied ethics from a secular, utilitarian point of view. He is best known for Animal Liberation (1975), which criticizes intensive animal farming, and for the essay "Famine, Affluence, and Morality" on the duty to help the global poor. His later books, including The Life You Can Save and The Most Good You Can Do, take that argument toward charitable giving, and he is Ira W. DeCamp Professor of Bioethics at Princeton University.
