Peter Watts

Peter Watts is a Canadian science fiction author who writes hard science fiction. He earned a Ph.D. in zoology and resource ecology from the University of British Columbia in 1991 and worked as a marine-mammal biologist and in academic research and teaching before he began publishing fiction. He wrote the Firefall series, beginning with Blindsight, a first-contact novel about a crew of damaged specialists sent toward an alien intelligence, followed by Echopraxia.
