Pier Paolo Pasolini

Pier Paolo Pasolini was an Italian poet, writer and film director, known for the novel A Violent Life, set among the poor neighbourhoods of post-war Rome, and for films such as The Gospel According to St. Matthew and Salò, or the 120 Days of Sodom. He was also a public intellectual who wrote sharp criticism of consumerism and the Italian middle class, and his fiction includes The Street Kids. He was murdered at Ostia in November 1975, a case Italians still argue over.
