R. Buckminster Fuller was an American architect, systems theorist, and inventor who wrote more than 30 books and is best known for popularizing the geodesic dome. He also coined or spread terms such as "Spaceship Earth," "ephemeralization," and "tensegrity." His later books include Operating Manual for Spaceship Earth, Synergetics, and Critical Path, which examines how social, political, and technological systems developed. He died in 1983.
