Raymond Queneau was a French novelist, poet, critic and editor, known for his wit and cynical humour. He co-founded Oulipo, the Ouvroir de littérature potentielle, and served as its president. His novels include Zazie in the Metro, a satire, and The Blue Flowers, a work of literary fiction. He died in 1976.
