Rebecca Walker is an American writer, feminist, and activist, regarded as one of the prominent voices of Third Wave Feminism and the coiner of the term "third wave" after her 1992 article in Ms. magazine. She co-founded the Third Wave Fund, which later became the Third Wave Foundation, supporting young women of color and queer, intersex, and trans people. Her writing and speaking focus on race, gender, politics, power, and culture. Her memoir Black White and Jewish sits alongside Black Cool: One Thousand Streams of Blackness, a cultural essay collection she edited with Henry Louis Gates Jr.
