Richard Phillips Feynman (1918–1988) was an American theoretical physicist who shared the 1965 Nobel Prize in Physics for work on quantum electrodynamics. He wrote popular books drawn from his teaching and talks, including The Feynman Lectures on Physics and QED: The Strange Theory of Light and Matter. Readers also knew him through Surely You're Joking, Mr. Feynman!, a collection of his anecdotes gathered by Ralph Leighton.
