Richard Phillips

Richard Phillips is an American merchant mariner and author who served as captain of the MV Maersk Alabama during its 2009 hijacking by Somali pirates, and he writes about that voyage in A Captain's Duty, a memoir. Phillips also writes science fiction, with The Second Ship, the first book in The Rho Agenda series, a space opera with spy-fiction elements.
