Robert Sheckley was an American writer whose quick-witted science-fiction stories and novels, first published in 1950s magazines, were known for being unpredictable, absurdist, and broadly comical. Dimension of Miracles is a madcap space adventure about a man who wins a dubious cosmic sweepstake and tries to get home through strange parallel worlds, and Untouched by Human Hands collects science-fiction short stories. Nominated for Hugo and Nebula Awards, Sheckley was named Author Emeritus by the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America in 2001.
