Robin DiAngelo writes on whiteness and race, drawing on critical discourse analysis and whiteness studies. She is best known for White Fragility: Why It's So Hard for White People to Talk About Racism, the 2018 book built around a term she coined in 2011 for the defensiveness white people often show when racism comes up. She is a former tenured professor at Westfield State University and an affiliate associate professor at the University of Washington.
