Roman Dmowski (1864–1939) was a Polish politician and statesman who co-founded the National Democracy movement and became its chief ideologue. He held the post of Minister of Foreign Affairs briefly in 1923 and spent most of his career opposing Józef Piłsudski's vision of a multi-ethnic Poland. His books include Kościół, Naród I Państwo, which examines how church, nation and state shape political life, and Myśli Nowoczesnego Polaka, a work of political history.
