Sam Selvon

Sam Selvon, whose full name was Samuel Dickson Selvon, was a Trinidad-born writer who moved to London in 1950. His 1956 novel The Lonely Londoners was groundbreaking in its use of creolised English, or "nation language", for both narration and dialogue. Selvon also wrote The Housing Lark and Calypso in London.
