Scott McCloud

Scott McCloud is an American cartoonist and comics theorist, born in 1960, who began in the 1980s making independent superhero comics and campaigning for creators' rights. He is best known for his non-fiction books about the medium, which are themselves drawn in comic form: Understanding Comics (1993), Reinventing Comics (2000), and Making Comics (2006). Across them he examines how comics work as a craft, and he has argued for new technology in how comics are made and shared.
