Selva Almada is an Argentine writer of poetry, short stories, and novels, and she wrote The Wind That Lays Waste. In 2014 she moved into nonfiction with Dead Girls, which blends reportage with literary craft to follow three young women murdered in early 1980s Argentina as the country moved toward democracy. Across both forms, she writes about provincial life and the silences that surround violence.
