Silas House

Silas House is an American writer best known for his novels, which attend closely to the natural world, working-class characters, and rural places and people. His books include The Coal Tattoo, Clay's Quilt, Southernmost, Lark Ascending, Eli the Good, and A Parchment of Leaves. He has also worked as a music journalist, columnist, and environmental activist, and is among the most visible LGBTQ voices associated with rural America. Born in 1971, he is known as a representative for LGBTQ Appalachians and Southerners.
