Sophie Elmhirst is a British journalist and author whose longform writing has appeared in The Guardian's Long Read, The Economist's 1843 magazine, The Gentlewoman and Harper's Bazaar. Her book Maurice and Maralyn follows a couple who spent 118 days adrift in a liferaft in 1973, and it took the Golden Nero, the overall prize at the 2024 Nero Book Awards. In 2020 Elmhirst won the features writer of the year award at the British Journalism Awards, and she has also written A Marriage at Sea.
