Stan Lee was an American comic book writer, editor, and publisher who rose through the family-run Timely Comics, later Marvel, and led its creative work for two decades. Working with Jack Kirby and Steve Ditko, he helped create Spider-Man, the X-Men, Iron Man, and the Fantastic Four, and his name sits on the Avengers and X-Men books beside Kirby's. He died in 2018 at 95, after years of cameo appearances in Marvel films and television.
