Stephen E. Ambrose

Stephen E. Ambrose was an American historian who wrote about World War II, the American West, and presidents Dwight D. Eisenhower and Richard Nixon, whose lives he studied in multi-volume biographies. He was best known for Band of Brothers, D-Day, Undaunted Courage, and Citizen Soldiers, the last of which follows the U.S. Army from the Normandy beaches to Germany's surrender. He taught history at the University of New Orleans for many years and co-founded the National D-Day Museum, later the National World War II Museum.
