Susan Vreeland

Susan Vreeland was an American author whose books often explore the link between art and fiction. Vreeland wrote The Passion of Artemisia, a fictionalized look at parts of the life of the painter Artemisia Gentileschi, and Girl in Hyacinth Blue, which centers on an imagined painting by Vermeer. Other novels include Clara and Mr. Tiffany, set in Louis Comfort Tiffany's studio, and The Forest Lover, a fictionalized account of the Canadian painter Emily Carr. Vreeland died in 2017.
