Theodor W. Adorno was a German philosopher, cultural critic and music critic, and a leading figure of the Frankfurt School of critical theory. His best-known books include Dialectic of Enlightenment (1947), Minima Moralia (1951) and Negative Dialectics (1966), and Aesthetic Theory came out posthumously in 1970. He wrote sharp critiques of fascism and of what he called the culture industry, and he had studied composition with Alban Berg.
