Thomas L. Friedman is an American political commentator and author who began as a reporter and has won three Pulitzer Prizes. His first two came in the 1980s for his coverage of the conflict in Lebanon and politics in Israel, and a third followed in 2002 for commentary on the war on terror. He writes a weekly column for The New York Times, and his books include From Beirut to Jerusalem and The World Is Flat: A Brief History of the Twenty-first Century.
