Tim Powers

Tim Powers is an American science fiction and fantasy author, born in 1952. His novels often place historical events under occult or supernatural influence, as in The Anubis Gates, winner of the Philip K. Dick Award, and Declare, which turns on an unrecorded cause behind the known days of its history. He has twice won the World Fantasy Award, for Last Call and Declare, and his 1987 novel On Stranger Tides inspired the Monkey Island video games. The Stress of Her Regard is another of his historical fantasies.
