Vivek Shanbhag is an Indian writer of stories, novels and plays in Kannada, and he edited the literary magazine Desha Kaala for seven years. He is best known for the 2013 novella Ghachar Ghochar, which follows a Bangalore family whose fortunes change when an uncle's spice business takes off. He was a Writer in Residence at the University of Iowa's International Writing Program in 2016, and Sakina's Kiss was shortlisted for the James Tait Black Prize in 2026.
