Wilhelm Grimm

Wilhelm Grimm, born in Hanau in 1786, was one of the two Grimm brothers, German academics whose work on folklore and the German language shaped modern folkloristics. Grimm worked with Jacob Grimm on Children's and Household Tales, the collection that popularized Cinderella, Hansel and Gretel, and Rumpelstiltskin. Books under the name Wilhelm Grimm include The Elves and the Shoemaker and a new English version of the brothers' fairy tales. Grimm died in 1859.
