Will Durant

Will Durant was an American historian and philosopher, best known for The Story of Civilization, an eleven-volume history he wrote with his wife, Ariel Durant, between 1935 and 1975. His earlier The Story of Philosophy (1926) helped popularize the subject, and he and Ariel also share the byline on The Lessons of History. Together they won the 1968 Pulitzer Prize for General Nonfiction and the 1977 Presidential Medal of Freedom. He died in 1981.
