William Blake (1757–1827) was an English poet, painter and printmaker whose work includes Songs of Innocence and of Experience, a collection that contrasts innocence with experience. He lived in London apart from three years in Felpham, and was largely unrecognised in his own time. Much of his printed work was made with his wife, Catherine Boucher, who worked as a printmaker and colourist on his books. His writing also appears in The Complete Poetry and Prose.
