Rico Danger works long hours at a gas station to help support her family, so the discovery of a potentially life-changing lottery ticket feels like a chance to rewrite her future. With the help of Zan, a privileged classmate whose world could not be more different from hers, Rico sets out to uncover the truth behind the ticket and what it might mean for everyone involved. As their search unfolds, they confront questions of race, class, privilege, friendship, and the complicated price of getting what you want. Sharp, heartfelt, and socially perceptive, this contemporary coming-of-age novel explores what it really means to strike it rich.
