Description

In the heart of autumn, a sinister carnival arrives in Green Town, promising dreams and delivering nightmares. Two young boys, Will Halloway and Jim Nightshade, sense the darkness lurking beneath the dazzling facade of Mr. Dark's Cooger & Dark's Pandemonium Shadow Show. As they investigate the mysterious disappearances and unsettling transformations plaguing their town, they uncover a battle between good and evil that will test their courage and their very souls. Ray Bradbury masterfully weaves a tale of innocence confronting corruption, exploring themes of aging, desire, and the enduring power of hope against encroaching despair.

A cautionary tale of good versus evil; two boys experience a harrowing encounter with a travelling carnival. A dark, brooding, disquieting read I'd encourage anyone to try.

I must say I found "Something Wicked" awkward to read. Bradbury's writing style stumbled and stuttered, which only lent itself to the chilling, macabre nature of the narrative.
