Description

Starr Carter navigates the delicate balance between her two vastly different worlds: her predominantly Black, working-class neighborhood and the affluent, mostly white suburban prep school she attends. This precarious equilibrium is violently disrupted when Starr becomes the sole witness to the fatal shooting of her unarmed childhood friend by a police officer. As Khalil's death ignites national outrage and protests, Starr finds herself at the center of a media storm, pressured by authorities and threatened by those who seek to control the narrative. She alone holds the truth of that fateful night, but speaking it could expose her to grave danger and irrevocably alter her community.
