Description

After a successful neurosurgeon accidentally strikes and kills an Eritrean migrant on a deserted road, he makes a decision that draws him into a dangerous world far removed from his privileged life. Haunted by guilt and bound to secrecy, he begins treating undocumented patients in an improvised clinic, where compassion, fear, and self-preservation collide. As his wife, a police detective, investigates the hit-and-run, the couple’s personal and moral boundaries begin to unravel. A tense psychological drama, the novel explores immigration, privilege, conscience, and the fragile stories people construct to live with their choices.
