This is the second book I have read by Kate Quinn and I am just as amazed by her as I was by the first book I ever read (The Rose Code)

For some reason, her books always take me a little longer to get into than others. Maybe its due to the fact that there are multiple characters, timelines, and historical details, does anyone else relate? I usually find myself easing into the story rather than being instantly hooked. But once everything clicks? I’m completely in. There’s no turning back. Its almost like you’re being handed pieces of a puzzle without knowing exactly how they fit yet.

What I loved most about "The Briar Club" was how deeply we got to know each character. Quinn doesn’t just introduce you to them, she unpacks them. Their secrets, their fears, their contradictions, their quiet strengths. By the end, I felt like I understood each of them intimately. Even their flaws didn’t frustrate me; instead, they made the characters feel painfully real. You don’t just root for them, you accept them. By the end, I didn’t feel like I was simply reading about these women, I felt like I had lived alongside them, shared their tension, their resilience, and their growth.

And as always, the way she weaves history into the narrative is incredible. It never feels like a history lesson, yet you walk away having absorbed so much about the time period. The political tension, the social atmosphere, the unspoken dangers they all shape the characters’ choices in ways that feel organic and powerful.

Kate Quinn has this talent for building slow-burning stories that reward patience. They demand your attention at first, but once you’re immersed, the emotional payoff is worth every page.
