Description
Aito thought he was living an ordinary college life—until love triggers a flood of memories from his first life as a tragic mermaid who risked everything for a prince and vanished into sea foam. Now, reincarnation comes with a cruel twist: a mysterious power steals his voice and leaves him wracked with pain whenever he tries to stand near the boy he wants most, turning affection into something he must survive rather than simply feel. In a darkly beautiful modern BL fairytale, Aito and Toru navigate fate’s lingering curse, testing whether true love can outlast tragedy, silence, and the pull of the past. With lyrical, emotionally charged storytelling and a romance-forward sense of wonder, this complete-in-one college romance explores themes of identity, second chances, and the fierce courage it takes to choose love when the world insists you can’t.

thank you to NetGalley for an ARC of this book in exchange for a review. "voices in the sea foam" is a wonderful story about reincarnation and the fear that comes with past trauma. beautifully drawn and elegantly written, the book follows the story of aito as he grapples with an inherited curse from his former life as a mermaid princess. aito's ability to navigate the world is predicated on his inability to fall in love—that is until he meets toru and everything changes. this was a delightful story and had such charming elements in it mixed with dramatic and allegorical gore. together they create a haunting but hopeful narrative. not to mention there was some silly moments to lift your spirits. this was a very sweet BL romance and the couple were very cute!
Got this arc for free from netgalley!

So it didn't break my heart, but damn was I crying by the end of it 😭
We've basically got a little mermaid inspired retelling, but its the next life of the mermaid after dying in the first one. And of course make it gay this time around
The story was so sweet, and the characters were so sweet and damn I could call this tooth rotting fluff with a side of angst and that sounds super accurate
Adored this so freaking much
