A Long Walk to Water: Based on a True Story
Description
This powerful novel intertwines the stories of two eleven-year-olds in Sudan, separated by decades but united by the struggle for survival. In 2008, Nya makes arduous daily journeys to fetch water, while in 1985, Salva becomes one of the "lost boys," fleeing conflict and embarking on a perilous trek across the continent. Both children face unimaginable hardships, from devastating drought to the constant threat of danger, as they search for safety and family. Linda Sue Park masterfully reveals how their paths converge in a testament to resilience, hope, and the enduring human spirit.
